St Germain-des-Prés - Boulevard Saint-Germain

The Boulevard of St Germain, is a major street in Paris on the Left Bank (south side) of the Seine river. It is the sixth district of Paris. The St Germain-des-Prés is best known as the home of the Latin Quarter, the students' district and for its reputation as a magnet for artists, as the district was a bohemian hangout and center of intellectualism and existentialism movement after World War II.

Now, the neighborhood is famous for its artsy movie theaters, street-side cafes (home to a number of famous cafés, such as Les Deux Magots and Café de Flore) and the influx of students from the nearby universities, which adds to the already vibrant atmosphere of the area. The Boulevard is today a thriving high-end shopping street with stores from Armani, Rykiel and Louis Vuitton. It is also the home to the World famous Bookshop - La Hune .

La Hune - Bookworms' Paradise

La Hune 170
Boulevard Saint-Germain
75006 Paris

6th Arrondissement
Metro : St-Germain-des-Prés

La Hune bookstore is a treasure !! It is one of my favorites and a quintessential bookstore in Paris. This world famous bookstore on Boulevard St Germain is next door to the Café de Flore and Les Deux Magots. The prestige of these cafes is enhanced by this excellent (French) bookshop specializing in art publications.

La Hune bookstore is part of the history of Saint-Germain des Prés. It is in the writers' and publishers' district where Max Ernst, André Breton, poet Henri Michaux as well as hundreds of other artists through the decades hang out.

It has every kind of literature: poetry, short stories, novels, biographies and more. The ground floor has all the classics, as well as new books on display, while the first floor has a fine arts section. And don’t miss the art books on the Mezzanine !!

But be careful all you bookworms, drawn in by its pristine and modern décor, you are likely to want to stay all day not to mention a good part of the night. Fortunately La Hune doesn't close until nearly midnight (Yeah.. unlike Kino !!), and they open on Sundays too.

Parisian Café - Les Deux Magots

Located next door to another popular hangout, Café de Flore, Les Deux Magots is a famous café in the intellectual-chic quarters of Saint-Germain-des-Prés, on the Left Bank of the Seine. Like its celebrated rival Café de Flore, Les Deux Magots can claim to have been the heart of the Existentialist Movement during the early part of this century.

Its legendary terrace was the meeting-point for great writers and thinkers staying in Paris. Particularly the Surrealists, lead by André Breton preferred this café. It therefore inspires creativity and is great for people-watching. Its no wonder that Paris' best bookshop set up shop next door.

Parisian Café - Café de Flore

Café de Flore 172

Le Café de Flore, gives off a more local, hip, & literary feel . The classic Art Deco interior of red seating, mahogany & mirrors remain unchanged since World War II. Its here where you can meet all the most beautiful & very rich young boys of all paris.
( " Wan 2 take Mash there someday! " )

Located at a unique district of Paris : Saint-Germain-Des-Prés, it's where various movements of artistic and literary creation kept close and intermingled in a universe of freedom. Le Café de Flore have been the heart of the Existentialist Movement and hosted most of the French intellectuals during the post-war years - Sartre, Simone de Beauvoir, Pablo Picasso etc.

But separate they must in just a few hours, Jesse & Celine are making every moment counts, pouring as much living as they can into the time Before Sunrise. A tale of twentysomethings at a crossroad, who met on a train in Europe sense a connection and explore after-hours Vienna together. The people, places, and allure of the city became their sudden iteraries. Love is their destination.

Celine : No, then it sounds like a male fantasy. Meet a French girl on the train, fuck her, and never see her again.

When love can come as a complete surprise ...

He's Jesse, a young American with an Eurail pass, on his way to Vienna to catch a cheap flight back home after a traumatic break-up, & She's Celine, a French student at the Sorbonne, on her way back to Paris after having visited her grandmother in Budapest. Both in their early 20s. They meet on a train in Austria. They start talking. There is a meeting of the minds and they like each other. Then he has this crazy idea: Why doesn't she get off the train with him in Vienna, spend time together until he catches his plane? Here 2 kids, literate, sensitive, tentative, intoxicated by the fact that their lives stretch out before them, filled with mystery and hope, and maybe love.

Celine : Maybe we should meet here in five years or something.
Jesse : All right, all right, five year- Five years! That's a long time!
Celine : It's awful! It's like a sociological experiment!

" I like to feel his eyes on me when I look away "

There's wind that blows in from the north.
And it says that loving takes this course.
Come here. Come here.
No I'm not impossible to touch
I have never wanted you so much.
Come here. Come here.
Have I never laid down by your side.
Baby, let's forget about this pride.
Come here. Come here.
Well I'm in no hurry.
Don't have to run away this time.
I know that you're timid.
But it's gonna be all right this time. - Come Here, Kath Bloom
